Course Sites - Whitefish, Montana

Whitefish, Montana is in the northwest section of Montana, about 30 miles west of Glacier National Park and 60 miles south of Canada. The town is located in a spectacular mountain valley at an elevation of 3,300 feet, surrounded by national forest and two large fresh water lakes. The area is famous for its spectacular beauty, grizzly bears, healthy wolf population skiing, mountain biking, alpine hiking, and horseback riding.

Travel Air: The closest airport is Glacier International Airport (FCA) located in Kalispell, Montana. Whitefish has year-round service from Denver by United Express, Seattle by Alaska Airline, Salt Lake City by Delta, and Minneapolis. An airport shuttle to Whitefish can be arranged through a variety of services. Rental vehicles are available at the airport from Budget, Hertz, and Avis. The driving time to Whitefish is approximately 20 minutes.

Travel Train: Amtrak. Traveling daily between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest along major portions of the Lewis and Clark trail, Amtrak's Empire Builder provides the perfect way to experience the rugged splendor of the American West.The mighty Empire Builder takes you on an exciting adventure through majestic wilderness, following the footsteps of early pioneers. From Chicago, you'll have magnificent views of  Big Sky country in Montana. You'll travel through Glacier National Park on your way to Whitefish.

Travel by car: There are no interstate highways up in this part of Montana, for better or worse. As such, getting into the Flathead Valley (where Whitefish is) is an exercise in patient driving on twisty mountain roads (most are in good condition). From the south, use Highway 93 from Missoula. Highway 2 offers a better and less crowded way of getting into the Flathead Valley if you will be coming from the west (from Libby) or the east (East Glacier/Havre/Great Falls area).

Course Sites - North Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Blessed with magnificent natural beauty and located in the one most popular and desirable locations in the Western United States, Lake Tahoe is considered the jewel of the High Sierra. At 6,229 feet above sea level, Lake Tahoe is the highest lake of its size in the United States, measuring 22 miles long by 12 miles wide, with an average depth of 989 feet and 72 miles of shoreline. Class will be held within walking distance to Lake Tahoe.

Travel Air: The closest airport is Reno-Tahoe International Airport  http://www.renoairport.com/ is located in Reno, Nevada. Reno has year-round servicey cities including Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Charleston, S.C., Baltimore, Dallas. An airport shuttle to Incline Village can be arranged through a variety of services. Rental vehicles are available at the airport from Budget, Hertz, and Avis. The driving time to Incline Village is approximately 45 minutes over a mountain pass. Snow tires may be required. Check road conditions before traveling to Lake Tahoe.

Course Sites - Snowbird Ski Resort, Utah

Our courses are one of the few held at 11,000' above sea level. Our Wilderness Medicine Courses: Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness EMT Upgrade, and Open Recertification will be held at Snowbird Ski Resort in late summer/early fall of 2012.
